terry donahue
Terry was born in Duluth, Minnesota, and credits his older brother for recognizing his talent for art at a
young age and shepherding his ability. Terry received his BFA from the University of Nebraska at
Omaha, thereafter, serving a brief stint in the commercial art field before pursuing his passion for
wildlife art fulltime.
Terry’s chosen medium is pastel. Originally working in oil, Terry turned away from the medium and to
pastels in an effort to push himself away from the hyper-realism straight jacketing his work. Pastels
provided a needed challenge and allowed him to capture his own perspective of nature. Terry’s work is
characterized by loose untamed strokes, negative spaces, and a sense of captured motion.
His awards include, 8th Annual Pastel 100 Competition/The Art Spirit Foundation/ Dianne B. Bernhard
Gold medal Award for Excellence, NatureWorks Art Show Best of Show-2D 2011, RMEF 2010 Featured
Artist/ Reno NV, to name a few and has been featured in numerous publications, including Wildlife Art
and the Pastel Journal.
Terry’s artwork is currently on display at Lovetts Gallery, Tulsa OK, The Mountain Trails Gallery in Jackson WY and Park City UT; and Gallery 330, Fredericksburg, TX. Terry lives in Omaha Nebraska with his wife, Deb.
