Note from the Artist: 
 
This is the Split Rock Male, about 9 years old.  He’s dominant over the south eastern Sabi Sands Reservation in South Africa.  He’s the son of the Ostrich Koppies female.  He’s named after the Split Rock Donga on property just outside of the Sabi Sands, an area where he was born.  
 
The guides are amazing at not only tracking animals but IDing them and knowing all of their history. There are several things that they look at but one is the spot pattern on their face.
 
We were very lucky to have a private vehicle and nobody else around that day so we had him to ourselves for a very long time.  This whole trip was particularly successful.
