A grizzly bear takes a refreshing dip in a cool stream. It's a hot summer day, and that coat of his is hot! My wife and I watched this bear dawdle around in the water for almost half an hour when we traveled west a few months ago. He seemed completely uninterested in us, but an abundance of caution kept us a safe distance away. Thank goodness for telephoto lenses! Moss and algae floated on top of the water, but Grizzly didn't seem to mind at all. It seems that his only goal was to get relief from the heat! I painted this fellow in oil on birch board and finished the painting in a little over a week.
