MARY LOU PAPE
Horses were the favorite theme of Mary Lou’s childhood drawings. Wonderful days spent on her grandparents’ farm gave her an appreciation and love of animals and the western way of life. Living many years in Colorado added North American wildlife to Mary Lou’s artwork. With a recent more back to her home state of Kansas, she enjoys discovering new inspiration.
THe beauty and diversity of nature and travels to the many National Parks and nature preserves, ranches and farms in America continually provide Mary Lous with inspiration for her paintings of the wildlife and people in our remarkable country. She is drawn to intimate vows of subjects and their surroundings and particularly loves to portray the way light enriches the drama of painting.
Mary Lou attended Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas as a Fine Art major and has taken numerous workshops with admired artists. Her primary mediums are oil, pastel and pencil.
