Jody Naranjo

Jody Naranjo is exclusive to Lovetts Gallery for the state of Oklahoma. If you have ever attended a major Indian Market you already know who Ms. Naranjo is… however if this is your first time to hear of her, let us introduce you to one of the preeminent contemporary potters of our generation… Jody Naranjo.

Jody Naranjo (Santa Clara Pueblo) is recognized as one of the most prominent contemporary Southwest potters.

Her work is entirely unique within the greater genre of Native pottery. This is saying much, as Jody comes from one of the most well-known and accomplished artistic dynasties, including artists such as Jody and Susan Folwell, Roxanne Swentzell, Nora Naranjo Morse, and Rose Simpson.

Jody’s work is couched in the traditional, still digging her clay from the Santa Clara Pueblo, hand building, and firing outdoors, sgraffito-carved, yet she has, with amazing success, incorporated these traditional approaches into an absolutely identifiable style that is clearly her own.

Recognizing Jody’s talent, she has been awarded numerous “Best of Show,” “Best of Category,” 1st Place, etc. from the major markets and museums, including the Heard Museum Indian Market, Eiteljorg Indian Market, and the Santa Fe Indian Market.
