Cavan Gonzales, “Tse-whang” or “Eagle Tail”, is a leader in the polychrome revival at San Idelfonso Pueblo. Cavan is the eldest son of Barbara Gonzales, grand daughter of famed potter Maria Martinez. To create his pottery designs, he applies three or more colors of different clay slips. Cavan's specialty is large bowls with finely painted motifs. He has won numerous awards and national recognition and is a striving force in continuing the family tradition of making the very finest in pueblo pottery.
