My paintings are often layered with symbolism and allegory accessible from a cultural, universal, or individual level. Enigma and interpretation are certainly part of the process. A deep personal connection to the art is essential for me to create successful and often resonates with collectors. The passage of time, contemporary perceptions of beauty, individual facades, and duality are persistent themes in my paintings that frequently explore culturally manufactured myths and the fragile nature of relationships and life.

In recent years, I was honored to receive the highest award in six national or international watercolor exhibitions. Watercolor Artist, the leading watercolor magazine in the United States, featured my work on the cover in 2015 and in several articles. International Artist, Southwest Art, Best of Watercolor and American Art Collector magazines also published my paintings in oil or watercolor. To date, eight books showcased my art including multiple editions of the Splash: Best of Watercolor series published by North Light. During my career, I exhibited in museums and galleries in many cities in the United States including New York, Seattle, Chicago, Houston, Baltimore, New Orleans, Atlanta, Santa Fe, and Scottsdale. My work can also be found in public and private collections in Europe and across the States. I am a signature member of the American Watercolor Society (NYC) and the National Watercolor Society (SoCal) exhibiting frequently in international exhibitions of both. 

 

I hold an MFA in painting and had the opportunity to teach at four colleges and universities across the country, presently as a Professor of Art at Northeastern State University in Oklahoma. My two children, Brooke and Chase, are a source of pride and inspiration receiving recognition for their art while working or studying in Southern California.
