In 1998, renowned artist Anthony J. Waichulis began training aspiring Representational Artists with a very specific goal in mind: to achieve creative freedom through logic and discipline. His unique system of training would produce artists responsible for some of the most breathtaking drawings and paintings of today. His studio, The Waichulis Studio, quickly became one of the most respected ateliers in the United States.

Today, graduates of The Waichulis Studio populate the walls of prestigious galleries throughout the country, regularly appear in national publications, and receive numerous awards. In 2010, The Waichulis Studio was approached by a newly forming entity with aspirations for an educational effort on a global scale. This new entity, The Ani Art Academies, was the brainchild of Mr. Tim Reynolds, co-founder of a thriving Wall Street trading firm, passionate artist, patron of the arts, and founder of The Tim Reynolds Foundation. Mr. Reynolds felt that placing some of the strongest artistic training into the hands of many aspiring artists around the world would give rise to a generation of creatives capable of contributing exciting new ideas, sharing robust cultures, and pioneering new means of connection and communication through expression on a scale not seen before. The name ‘Ani’ was chosen to represent this massive undertaking as it is a play on the Swahili word ‘Andjani’, meaning the “road” or the “path ahead”. With Mr. Reynold’s inspiring vision in place, The Waichulis Studio merged with The Ani Art Academies project to create a new entity with far more resources and opportunities for aspiring artists today, The Ani Art Academy Waichulis.

Accepting only eleven artists per year, Anthony continues to pass on essential fundamentals of draftsmanship, anatomy of form, elements of perception, and various methods of Representational painting. The small class size enables the individualized attention each student needs to guide their pursuit of the highest quality Representationalism attainable.

2012 marked the opening of the second Ani Art Academies on the Caribbean island of Anguilla (Ani Art Academies Anguilla). In the Fall of 2013, a third academy officially opened its doors in the Dominican Republic (Ani Art Academies Dominicana), and most recently this year, the Ani Art Academies opened a second school on the Dominicana campus. Timothy W. Jahn, former Apprentice of The Ani Art Academy Waichulis, and the individual responsible for bringing the efforts of Tim Reynolds and Anthony Waichulis together is the first International Instructor at the Ani Art Academies Anguilla. Ani Art Academies Dominicana is being run under the instruction of former Ani Waichulis apprentices, Edward Dillon and Brandon D. Drake. Academies are also located in Thailand and Sri Lanka
