Dennis Boyd
Dennis was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, into a family of craftsmen, musicians, and writers. His natural artistic talents were encouraged early on and flourished in this nurturing environment.
Growing up, Dennis developed a strong work ethic and a sense of self-reliance. His desire to learn led him to the Colorado Institute of Art, where he developed strong graphic design skills that helped him earn a living, as well as exposed him to diverse aesthetic influences and standards of quality and exactness. His diligent design and illustration skills were honed and applied during nine years in group settings, after which he struck out and established his own design business in 1998, several years after moving to Montana.
Dennis’ adopted state is a land that has proved to be an endless source of inspiration for his fine art projects, especially his paintings of landscapes and his candid paintings of waterfowl and other indigenous birds. These works won him several awards in regional and national art competitions. Dennis was invited to participate in the Estes Park Plein Air Event from 2003 to 2005 and the St John’s Art for the Ages event from 2005 to 2012. Dennis is also an associate member of the Oil Painters of America and participated in the OPA’s Nation Juried Show in 2005 and was also selected to participate in the Salon International from 2005 to 2007. In 2012 and 2013 Dennis was selected to participate in Birds In Art, held at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum.
He has continued his journey of exploration and enrichment spending more time toting his portable easel around searching for new subject matter in the Montana and Wyoming outdoors.
