David Shingler is an artist based in Raleigh, NC. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 2007.

Inspired by the dramatic western scenery and the mystery of the Rocky Mountains, David Shingler has integrated these influences into his own personal technique and painting style. His original art school focus was on sculpture and glassblowing, making kinetic machines that respond to natural forces. That feeling still pervades his work.

Shingler took the plunge as a full-time artist quitting his job as a welder and devoting his full energies to art. This frees him to travel in search of inspiring places. Shingler’s oil paintings are not photorealistic, but they create a sense of depth and energy that make viewers feel they are there. Shingler paints a diverse subject matter including mostly landscapes as well as cityscapes and figurative works.
